Jeffrey Soh
Born in London on the 18th April 1990
I took up Chum Kune Do at the age of 6 to exercise and keep fit.
At the age of 6. I was afraid of going to Chum Kune Do as I was the
youngest one there and didn't have a suitable partner to work with.
However, my Father pushed me to continue explaining how Chum Kune
Do may not benefit me a lot at the age of 6; however he promised that
Chum Kune Do would benefit me later in life.
This promise was fulfilled when I was 11, after walking up pump Lane
(Rainham Kent) to the bus stop. After being pushed several times, I remained
calm and defended myself successfully, using a skipping kick into the
opponent's gut, which knocked my opponent over a wall and into a bush.
Since that incident I was inspired by how effective Chum Kune Do is,
encouraging me to work twice as hard and train twice as much. Since then,
I have achieved in January 2005 I passed my grading, moving me onto black sash,
and have been promoted to 1st Degree black sash.
I have also been given the opportunity to train my own class on Saturday.
My class consists of a large range of age groups from infants to adults,
which sufficiently tests my instructing skills to find universal training methods.
I attempt to make every lesson different and increasingly more challenging.
Students may hate me for this, but, as my father promised me, I will promise
them, that what I teach will come of use in the future. However, remember:
- If you cheat in lessons, you cheat no one but yourself.
- If you lie to yourself in lessons, you lie to no one but yourself.
- If you don't put in 100%. Never will you achieve 100%
Finally, I would like to thank my teacher, Master Clifford for patiently
teaching me Chum Kune Do, Training me to my limits and helping me to progress
continuously. I would also like to thank my father for introducing Chum Kune Do
to me and pushing me to continue Chum Kune Do when I doubted myself
My achievements are
- British Open Champion. April 2002. 2 Gold in Self-defence & Kickboxing
- International Open Martial Arts Championship. April 2003. Gold in Self-defence & Kickboxing
- Kent Open 2005. Gold in Kickboxing
- Promoted to fully qualified Instructor, in March 2005
